Workshops
The Beginner's Knitting Workshop
This workshop is suited for those who:
- are 16 years of age or older; and
- want to learn how to knit or refresh their basic knitting skills in a quiet setting amongst a small group in a shop that smells of wool.
Over 2 weeks, students will learn to cast on and off; the knit, purl & slip stitches; and finishing skills. We will discuss tension, how to create three stitch patterns, and how to read a knitting pattern & knitting in progress.

Students will have fun and support learning and practicing the steps in class and over the 2 weeks apply their new skills towards their first project: a modified Wheat Scarf by Tin Can Knits.
After completing the workshop, students will understand the basics of knitting and be able to independently create a simple knitting project from a pattern (or from their head if they're inspired.)
MATERIALS
- One pair of 6.5mm knitting needles
- Two skeins of DR Romney Bulky yarn
- Two stitch markers
- Darning needle
- Mini-Soak wool wash
